Beavers

Veronica Madden
Beaver Section Team Leader

The best quote from Veronica is that she “joined 17th Harrow as a helper, and has stayed ever since”. Veronica became a warranted leader in April 2008 Veronica is our BEAVER SCOUT LEADER, is a mum of 2 and works at St. Anselms’ as a Teaching Assistant, which is an excellent link for the children who arrive at the Beaver group as she is a familiar face for the new starters. Veronica joined 17th Harrow in 2003 and worked alongside Alison. After Alison’s death, Veronica kept the group going and has continued to strive on. We make a point of remembering Alison in our prayer at the end of each meeting.

Carol
Beaver Section Team Member

Carol has been with the Beaver section since she started as a Parent Helper, answering the appeal from the Group Scout Leader for additional uniformed leaders and assistant leaders in 2010 and has stuck with it… adding to role of ASSISTANT BEAVER SCOUT LEADER over the years. She is a mum of two children who are both now in the Scouts section and works full-time for a publishing company. No background in Scouting except for “the luck of having a brilliant form teacher in secondary school that organised camping trips, staying in youth hostels and tents. That was the start of the camping bug, but never grew until arriving at 17th”.

Angela
Beaver Section Team Member

Angela joined as a Beaver and worked her way through the sections. Completed her training as a Young Leader. When she turned 18, she joined us again as a Sectional Assistant

Cubs

Owen McFadden
Cub Team Leader

Owen has been with 17th Harrow in a Parent role since his first
child started in approx. 2006. He is the father of two children, the partner of one of the Teaching Assistants at St. Anselm’s (not Veronica before you ask!) and works full time in IT. Like Carol, he answered the call from the Group Scout Leader in 2010 and enrolled as an Assistant Cub Scout Leader, and at the departure of the Cub Scout Leader, Owen took the reins as is now the CUB SCOUT LEADER.
