Cub Sleepover Kit List

This is a typical kit list for a 1 night Cub Sleepover. All this kit should fit into a waterproof holdall or kit bag (no bin bags or suitcases).

All kit must be clearly named.

Wear

  • Uniform (Sweatshirt, T-Shirt & scarf – own trousers, but NOT jeans) – uniform will be need for arrival and departure and to/from an activity
  • Trainers / Walking Shoes
  • Waterproof coat

Bring…

  • 2 Season sleeping bag
  • Pillow / Inflatable pillow (optional)
  • Camp blanket (optional)
  • Insulated mat
  • A sleepover mascot (Teddy) if required
  • Pyjamas (sorry girls no nighties)
  • Change of clothes
  • Clean underwear and socks
  • Warm jumper / fleece (might get cold in the evening)
  • Carrier bag for wet/muddy clothes
  • Wash kit including a towel and flannel, toothbrush & toothpaste)
  • Torch and spare batteries
  • Water Bottle – reusable, named, and not leaking
  • Indoor shoes – for the evening (primsolls/slippers will do)

PLUS
PACKED LUNCH FOR DAY ONE

Do NOT bring…

  • Food and Drink (we provide that) – other than a packed lunch if advised
  • Sweets and tuck (we provide that too)
  • Electronic games / toys
  • Radios / MP3 players / iPods
  • Mobile phones and other electronic equipment
  • Pen knife
  • Matches/lighters
  • Money

Sleeping bags
Getting the right type of sleeping bag and what to sleep on is one of the great mysteries of camping.

Have a look at the GoOutdoors website… there is a great page on what the best items are to go for.

If you are going to buy a sleeping bag or other outdoor equipment, the following shops offer a 10% discount to scouts, you will need to show your group scarf to qualify:

Please note the following:

  • The Scout Group cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to any personal effects and the Scout Association does not provide automatic insurance for such items.
  • If your child requires MEDICATION while on camp please hand it in to a leader in a named container giving full details of medication required and a letter signed by the parent giving permission for one of the Leaders to administer this medication.
  • All equipment and clothing must be CLEARLY MARKED with the owner’s name; using or permanent ink.
  • Money may be handed to camp-leader for safety and will be given out as required. The Scout Group is otherwise not responsible for losses.
  • Please do not include any electronic games, phones, radios or mp3 players etc.
  • As we may have children with food ALLERGIES, please do not pack any sweets or chocolates.
  • Knives, aerosols, matches, lighters and any other flammable liquid or gas must never be brought to camps; these are dangerous and not necessary.
  • Kit should be packed in a holdall or rucksack. It is important that there are no loose items. Line the kit bag with a plastic bag – that way if it rains your kit is not wet.
  • Due to the nature of camps and activities, it is advisable to WEAR OLD CLOTHING and FOOTWEAR as there is a good chance they will get very wet, dirty and/or damaged.
  • Earrings and other decorative jewellery are not recommended on camps and activities.
